INDUSTRY STANDARDS

SAFETY:

The telecommunications products built by Cermetek must meet the safety standards for flammability and shock resistance.

A telephone line carries a hazardous voltage. A Ring signal can reach a magnitude as high as 150 VRMS. This would present a potential hazard if proper safety design rules were not followed. Cermetek's modem products are designed and tested and are recognized components under Underwriters Laboratories standard UL60950 Third Edition.

TELECOMMUNICATIONS:

FCC Part 68 Rules govern the connection of equipment to the public telephone network. All Equipment to be attached to the public telephone network must be FCC Registered.

Because Cermetek's modem modules are complete modems they can be registered under FCC Part 68 rules. Cermetek modems include not only the modulator and demodulator but, the complete DAA circuit including lightening surge protection. Cermetek passes the FCC Part 68 Registration along to our customers freeing them from the obligation to perform additional FCC testing.

Most Cermetek DAA modules are FCC compliant but do not include FCC Part 68 Registration. Two models, the XE0068 and XE0068DT provide the billing delay, transmit level control and lightening protection required for FCC Part 68 Registration. Like Cermetek's modem products, the FCC Registration on these units is transferable to Cermetek's customers

EMI COMPATIBILITY:

Most developed countries require that electronic equipment be tested to certify that it does not interfere with other equipment such as television, radio, and medical devices.
This testing cannot be completed at the component level, only upon the finished and packaged end product. Therefore Cermetek modems are not directly certifiable under requirements such as FCC Part 15
Our modems and DAA's are designed for compliance; and many Cermetek modems and DAA's have been used in end equipment which has been Part 15 Registered, so that you can have high confidence that our products will be suitably "quiet" in your equipment design. Contact Cermetek for further information on EMI compatibility.
